Your Representative for CapEx Projects.

Consulting, Interim Management and Project Risk Mitigation in the Beverage Industry

On track.

On time.

On budget.

My name is Kim Naatz. As a certified Master Brewer, Brewer and Maltster, I am currently a Consultant and Interim Project Director for CapEx projects in the beverage industry – client-side, as Owner’s Representative.

My focus is on identifying project risks early – ideally during the pre-contract phase, before the contract is signed. Cost overruns, additional work orders and schedule risks can be effectively minimised through a clearly defined scope, effective milestones and acceptance procedures, as well as clear claims and change management.

Specifically, I take over client-side project governance and supplier management: from specification and contract safeguarding, through the definition of milestones and acceptance logic, to implementation, commissioning, and ramp-up.

My Services.

Valuable because I know both sides. I understand the requirements of operators (brewery/juice/bottler) and the logic of manufacturers (Krones + KHS). I am a “translator” between both worlds to reduce friction losses in technical clarification, acceptance, and change order discussions.

Pre-Contract / Deal & Risk Focus

Experience that pays off.

End-to-End Brewery Know-how

From raw material intake to the finished pallet, including process and filling/packaging. Built from practical experience (apprenticeship/work in breweries) and manufacturer side: Krones/Steinecker (process) and KHS (filling/packaging)

Project Director / CapEx Project Responsibility

Client-side management of large investment and new machinery projects: schedule, budget, quality, acceptances, throughout the entire duration. Example: PepsiCo Thailand, 2 PET lines at 48,000 cph, from contract start to handover/ramp-up

Contract, Claim & Change Management

Contract logic, milestones, acceptance criteria, as well as claim defense and enforcement as an economic lever in the project. Consistently documentation-based (creating/defending claims) and embedded in governance/reporting.

Risk Management in Large Projects

Early detection of typical project pitfalls (scope, interfaces, resources, schedule, supplier performance) and derivation of concrete countermeasures. In projects including safety/country risks: e.g., local risk checks in international assignments.

Manufacturer Dual Perspective (Client & Plant Manufacturer)

Knowledge of operator requirements (brewery/juice/bottler) and manufacturer logic (Krones + KHS) and "translator" between both worlds to reduce friction losses in technical clarification, acceptance, and change order discussions.

International & Intercultural Implementation Competence

Many years abroad and worldwide projects: 4 years in Spain, of which 2.5 years in Lekunberri (Wesergold/Riha Group) and 1.5 years Canary Islands (SABMiller/AB InBev). Languages: German (native), English & Spanish (professional working), helpful in global project setups.

Industry Focus »Beverage«

For almost 30 years exclusively in the beverage industry, resulting in high speed in analysis, decisions, and implementation. Most recently 16 years with the two world market leaders in its segment (Krones & KHS): Krones AG approx. 5 years, KHS GmbH approx. 11 years.
